The Dialog- Sri Lanka Cricket official world cup song launch was held on 15th December evening at CR & FC grounds as the album was presented to the Sri Lanka Cricket Team.
After the song launch, the event was coloured by a grand musical extravaganza featuring Marians and Live performances by Sunil, Piyal, Joey, Umariah, Bachi, Lanthra, Iraj, Ronnie, Corine, Ashanthi, Ruwan and Jaya.
Speaking at the launch, Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews shared his views of the world cup,” I feel very proud to lead my country and I have 4 senior ex-captains to guide me. I can assure our fans that we will give 200% to bring the world cup home.”
Sri Lanka’s very own run-machine Kumar Sangakkara spoke adamantly about his career and his short-term future plans,” I represented Sri Lanka for the last 15 years with great happiness. Tomorrow will be my last ODI at Sri Lanka and I feel proud to have come so far though it will be a sad day for me and Mahela as well. My hope is to end my career winning the world cup. Hard to give any predictions on what will happen but we will definitely give our best. I will have to sit with the selectors after the world cup to decide if I’m playing Tests but most probably I will play only for 6 months.”
One of the most-experienced players to take part in the forthcoming world cup, Mahela Jayawardene contributed his kind words during the official launch which was a success in spite of rain,”This is an important tournament as a team and as a country. We have been preparing for this world cup since 2 years. We have a very good leader and an impressive bunch of talented youngsters and we are hoping to play according to a plan and give our best shot. Tomorrow is my last game here and honestly, it will be an emotional and sad day for me though I have been planning this for a long time now. I am lucky to be representing my country for so long and incidentally my first ODI was played at Premadasa and so will be my last at home.“
Sri Lanka national team will start their quest of bringing back silverware when they will be flying to New Zealand on 18th December 2014 and they will be offshored from our beautiful island till end of World Cup in Australia on 31st March 2015.
