Murali harmony cup begins in the North

The Murali Harmony cup began in the Northern Province as 8 games of the boys segment was worked off in four different venues on day one in the Northern Province.

Four games began at 09:50 am while another four began at 14:00 am

The first four games to begin were:

Group B: Trinco-Batti Combined Schools v Richmond College at Jaffna.

Group C: K & M Combined Schools v St. Peters College at Kilinochchi.

Group D: Mannar-Vavuniya Combined Schools v Devapathiraja College at Mullaitivu.

Group A: Jaffna Combine Schools v Ananda College at St Patrick’s College Ground, Jaffna.

Richmond College beat Trinco-Batti Combined Schools with 5 wickets to spare as they began their group B game with a win.

Favourites St. Peters College began the defence of their title as they easily beat Kilinochchi & Mannar Combined Schools by 8 wickets.

St.Thomas’ College Bandarawela were stunned by Karandeniya Central College as they beat St. Thomas’ College by 84 runs.

The games between Maris Stella College v Polonnaruwa Combined Schools and Prince of Wales College v International Schools Combined did not begin as rain interrupted play.

Eight more games of the boys segment will continue tomorrow (Oct 30th) in the Northern Province.


Women’s segment of the Murali harmony cup 

Three games of the women’s segment of the Murali harmony cup began in the Northern Province today.

The women’s segment games began at 11:40 am but only one match was completed while the other two games were abandoned due to inclement weather conditions.

The three games were:

Group A: Shakthi Ladies v Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club Women at Mankulam.

Group A: Matale Ladies v Badulla Ladies at Mankulam.

Group B: Nittabuwa Ladies v FOG-Seenigama Ladies at Mankulam.

The only game to be completed on day one was played between Shakthi Ladies v Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club Women. Shakthi Ladies won the game with ease as they beat Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club Women by 79 runs.
