Moors SC consist of a good group of youngsters but will face a rather tough task if they are to stay in the Tier ‘A’ competition after losing quite a few of their key players this season.
Bit of History
Moors is one of the older clubs in the domestic circuit, having been founded way back in the year 1908. Since then they have managed a single championship run when they took out the Premier League title in the 2002/03 season under the captaincy of spin wizard Rangana Herath. They did however come close to repeating the feat last season, when the Dilhara Lokuhettige led Moors XI finished as runners up in the league.
Amongst the better known players to have begun their careers at Moors are current Bangladesh national coach Chandika Hathurusinghe and former Sri Lanka Test opening bowler Chanaka Welagedara.
Dilhara Lokuhettige, Mahela Udawatte, Malinda Pushpakumara and Chathuranga De Silva are some of the players whose services Moors will have to manage without this season.
Key Players
Kosala Kulasekara, will be the man in charge this season after taking over from Dilhara Lokuhettige. The hard hitting all-rounder was influential last season and will be hoping to replicate his efforts with both bat and ball this season as well.
Former Sri Lanka fast bowler Thilina Thushara, has made the switch from Colombo CC to Moors this season. He brings along with his more than 50+ international match experience and will lead the Moors bowling line-up. He is also in relatively good form despite being in the twilight of his career having picked up the Best T20 Bowler award for the past season.

Primosh Perera, playing mainly as a batsman for Moors is also a useful leg-break bowler. He has played over 40 first class games making 1768 runs as an opener.
Ruvindu Gunasekera, the Sri Lankan national who represented the Canadian national team earlier in this decade is making a bid to find a way into the national set up. The opener is rumoured to be a free scoring batsman and will definitely be someone Moors look to to give them a solid start at the top of the order.
New boys
Former Prince of Wales batsman Shanuka Dulaj is new on the scene but has already made an impact, slamming 181 against Sri Lanka Army just last week.
23 year old opener Pabasara Waduge is also new to the Moors set up and will be hoping to push for a regular spot in the starting XI.
Coaching staff
Anil Rideegammanagedara, taking over from Mahesh Weerasinghe will be the head coach of Moors this season.
