Minod Bhanuka stockpiles 263*; Mahela Udawatte slams 212

Two stylish left-hand batsmen smashed double-centuries on day two of week 6 matches in the AIA Premier League Tournament 2015/16 on Saturday. 

The 20-year old former Maliyadeva College wicket-keeper batsman and Sri Lanka ‘A’ representative, Minod Bhanuka slammed an unbeaten career-best 263 from 275 balls for SSC against Badureliya while the former Sri Lanka opener, Mahela Udawatte stroked his maiden first-class double-ton representing Moors SC when he reached 212 after being 163 overnight.

SSC vs Badureliya

After being 26/0 overnight, SSC massacred the Badureliya bowling by amassing 460 for 1 at stumps on day two at Surrey Village grounds in Maggona.

Sri Lanka Test opener, Dimuth Karunarathne and his young partner Minod constructed a brilliant 279-run stand which took the life out of the hosts’. Dimuth made 121 off 193 balls with 12 fours while Bhanuka struck 6 sixes and 29 fours during his mammoth knock.

Baduraliya – 254 all out in 82 overs: Hasantha Fernando 62, Sahan Wijerathne 75*, Sameen Kandenarachchi 48, Binura Fernando 4/22, Tharindu Rathnayake 3/75, Kasun Madusanka 2/52.

Moors SC took the upper hand in the match as the defending champions, SL Ports Authority are still trailing by 158 runs with only 4 wickets remaining at CCC grounds.
