Under the instructions of Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage, the Ministry of Sports is aiming to escalate the sport of Badminton at 100 selected schools island-wide, the Ministry of Sports said.
The Ministry has taken steps to initiate a pioneer project with the help of the Sri Lanka Badminton Association to promote the sport.
Hundred trainers will be utilized at hundred selected schools to identify and train talented badminton players. Teachers will be given a special training by the Institute of Sports Sciences. Schools in North and East and remote areas will be given priority,” the Sports Ministry said.
The Sri Lanka Badminton Association is tasked with guiding and coordinating the teachers selected for the project which will cover 25 districts.
