Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa has requested Cricketer Bhanuka Rajapaksa to reconsider his decision to retire from International Cricket.
Issuing a statement, Minister Rajapaksa mentioned that as a young player, Bhanuka should be able to move forward through challenges without taking hasty decisions regarding his career.

Pointing out that the players have the full right to leave the sport at any given time due to the personal reasons, the minister mentioned that he is ready to intervene if there were any issued related to Cricket administration.
However, the minister mentioned that he is not willing change the structure and system in place for the sake of a few players as it can lead to the destruction of the whole process.

The minister further emphasized the fact that a long-term plan has been established to develop Cricket in Sri Lanka, and with its fulfillment, he believes that Sri Lanka can achieve long term success.
