Indika Rukshani Ariyasena

Indika Rukshani Ariyasena is set to create history as the first Sri Lankan female referee at an Asia Rugby tournament later this month.

She has been assigned duties as a referee for the Asia Rugby U17 Girls’ Qualifiers, which is scheduled to take place on the 29th and 30th of this month at the Dubai Sports City, UAE.

The former Sri Lankan sevens player, who represented the country at multiple Asia Women’s Sevens tournaments, will go into the record books when she takes charge of the Asia U17 Girls’ games.

Moving forward in the rugby fraternity, from player to referee – Ms. Indika Ariyasena sets an example to most female rugby enthusiasts in the country who opt to remain in the local arena, not moving forward. Her appointment not only creates new beginnings for Sri lanka women’s rugby, it also uplifts the standards of SLRFU in Asia.

Ms. Indika is set to leave the country in the coming week, and we at ThePapare.com wish her all the very best.
