The 2013 Mercantile Tennis Tournament is scheduled to take place from the 7th of December to the 14th of December at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association.

This tournament attracts the likes of many players from the leading cooperate institutions in the country as they compete in a bid to win glory for their respective firms.

This year’s tournament will feature the following events.

1)Mens Singles Division 1                                             8) Senior Over 35 ( Men) Singles

2)Mens Singles Division 2                                             9) Senior Over 35 ( Men) Doubles

3)Mens Singles Division 3                                           10) Senior Over 45 ( Men ) Singles

4)Mens Doubles                                                           11) Senior Over 45 ( Men ) Doubles

5)Womens Singles                                                       12) Senior Over 55 ( Men ) Singles

6)Womens Doubles                                                     13) Senior Over 55 ( Men ) Doubles

7)Mixed Doubles

Points will be awarded to the participants according to their performances in the above mentioned categories and the institution with the highest number of points will be deemed as the overall champions. The point system is as follows:

•5 Points for every win in Division I

•3 Points for every win in Division II

•1 Point for every win in Division III

•Events from 4 to 7,        –           5 Points for every win 

•Events from 8 to 13,      –           3 Points for every win

The 2012 edition of the tournament went down to the wire as the team from HSBC who were represented by the likes of Aasiri Iddamalgoda and Sankalpana Fernando edged out a fighting DFCC outfit by just half a point. Dialog PLC was able to put up a good performance in order to secure third place. 

This will be the last tournament organized by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association for the year 2013 and it is guaranteed to lay the foundation for an exciting and intense week of tennis which will be of interest to all enthusiasts of the sport.
