Mercantile Sevens 2015: MAS ‘A’ and Access end day two in good control

Day two of the Mercantile Sevens 2015 tournament got under way at the CR & FC grounds today (11/07) as the competition got down to the business end. With 41 games being played on day 2 (14 Bowl segment matches, 20 Shield segment matches and 7 Cup segment matches)

In the first match of the cup segment MAS ‘A’ absolutely trashed Dialog ‘A’ as they scored 40 points against helpless Dialog ‘A’ who didn’t manage to score 00.  In game two of the Cup Segment played in the morning session Access managed to come up winners as they scored 4 tries past JKH ‘A’. JKH ‘A’ managed to score only one try in the process. The game ended with Access 24 JKH ‘A’ 07.

In the only Cup segment game played in the afternoon session, Access managed to get over the line against Dialog ‘A’ as they won 24-21. The game was a tight affair but Access proved to be too strong for Dialog ‘A’ as they recorded their second win on day 2.

Dialog ‘A’ managed their first win of day 2 as they easily got past MAS ‘B’ scoring 29 points in the process. MAS ‘B’ only managed a solitary converted try in the game. MAS ‘A’ recorded their second win of the day as they yet again kept another team scoreless on day 2. MAS ‘A’ scored 24 points keeping JKH ‘A’ scoreless.

Day two drew to a close as the heavyweights of the Mercantile series battled it out for the last time on day 2. Match number 40 saw JKH ‘A’ record their first win of the day as they managed to beat MAS ‘B’ scoring 40 points. MAS ‘B’ managed a solitary converted try in the game as they lost their only game on day 2.

In the final game of day 2 (match 41), Access played out a 14 all draw with MAS ‘A’. Access drew first blood in the game but defending champions MAS ‘A’ came from behind and recorded a sensational draw.
