Three exciting matches were conducted on Wednesday in the ongoing MCA ‘B’ division 50-over League Tournament where Mobitel ‘A’, MAS Linea Aqua and LB Finance ‘A’ clinched victories.
LB Finance ‘A’ vs Commercial Bank
Former Josephian duo, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Priyamal Perera blasted brilliant centuries as LB Finance ‘A’ notched up an easy 187-run win over Commercial Bank at Maggona.
Opener Sadeera stroked an elegant 113 runs in 104 balls inclusive of 12 fours and 2 sixes while Priyamal also known as ‘Bullet’ smashed 118 in 113 balls with 2 massive sixes and 15 fours as LB Finance made a mammoth 326 for 8 in their 50 overs.
Fast-bowler Fabian Fernando and skipper Rajeewa Weerasinghe picked up 2 wickets each as Commercial Bank was bowled out for a mere 139 in the 33rd over.

Mobitel ‘A’ vs John Keells Holdings ‘B’
Young right-hander, Akeel Inham once again smashed a match-winning half-ton as Mobitel ‘A’ scraped through to a hard-fought 3-wicket victory over John Keells ’B’ at BRC grounds.
Batting first, John Keells ‘B’ was bowled out for 214. Experienced Ashan Peiris cracked 64 while former Peterite skipper Hans Fernando made an effort-less 40. Off-spinner Koshan Danushka claimed 5 wickets for Mobitel ‘A’.
Chasing 215 runs to win, Koshan Danushka once again contributed to the win as he top-scored with 69 while Akeel Inham stroked 68. Vikum Sanjaya made a pivotal 33 in the latter stages of the chase as they got over the line in the 45th over. Former Royal seamer Imran Khan and double-armed spinner Tharindu Rathnayake grabbed 2 wickets each.
John Keells (B) – 214 all out in 49.4 overs: Ashan Peiris 67, Hans Fernando 40, Janudika Sriyapala 33, Tharindu Rathnayake 26, Koshan Dhanushka 5/25.
Mobitel (A) – 217/7 in 44.4 overs: Akeel Inham 68, Koshan Dhanushka 69, Vikum Sanjaya 33, Imran Khan 2/42, Tharindu Rathnayake 2/53.
MAS Linea Aqua vs Raigam Marketing
Young-blooded MAS Linea Aqua defeated an out-of-form Raigam Marketing outfit by 7 wickets at Army grounds in Panagoda.
After winning the toss and batting first, Raigam Marketing plan was backfired when they were bundled out for 113 inside 30 overs. 2013 Royal ‘Big’ match winning spin duo, Poorna Aluthge and Devind Padmanathan picked up 2 wickets each for the winners.
Another Royalist stepped up to the occasion and took his team to victory without hiccups as left-handed Imal Liyanage blasted a half-century for MAS Linea Aqua.
