Rain halts MAS’ march to knock-out finals

Semi finals of the 26th Singer-MCA Premier Knock-Out tournament 2019 were hampered due to the heavy downpour in Colombo today.

The match between Dimo and Commercial Credit which was scheduled to get underway at Colts grounds was postponed without a single ball being bowled.

The other semi final between two teams representing the same group of companies, MAS Unichela and MAS Silueta was stopped halfway due to rain, with the match being scheduled to resume tomorrow.

MAS Silueta won the toss and invited MAS Unichela to take first lease of the MCA wicket. Unichela were bowled out in 38.2 overs for a modest 224 runs.

Left-handers Mahela Udawatte and Danushka Gaunathilaka impressed for Unichela with the bat with useful knocks of 59 and 40.

In bowling for Silueta, two Peterites, leg spinner Dushan Hemantha and medium pacer Angelo Emmanuel grabbed 4 and 3 wickets respectively.

Chasing 225 runs Silueta were on 87/2 when the game was stopped for the day at the end of the 13th over. Sangeeth Cooray remained unbeaten on 39 while Sri Lanka national cap Shehan Madushanka grabbed both wickets to fall for Unichela.

Kanrich Finance ‘B’ vs Unilever Sri Lanka

Kanrich Finance ‘B’ beat Unilever Sri Lanka by 25 runs according to the DL method today at the P. Sara Oval grounds in Colombo.

Batting first after winning the toss Kanrich Finance posted a mere 154 runs as they lost all their wickets within 49 overs.

Pramod Maduwantha remained unbeaten on 33 top scoring for Kanrich as Dilan Suraweera grabbed 3 wickets for Unilever.

Spinners Chanaka Devinda and Raveen Sayer claimed 3 and 2 wickets respectively to dent the Unilever run-chase as they were reeling on 80/6 when the game came to a close after the end of the 29th over due to rain.

Kanrich Finance emerged as winners by 25 runs on the DL calculations as they continued their dominance in the league tournament.
