Fairfirst Insurance Limited for the 05th successive year has come forward to support the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA), as the sponsor to the MCA “F” Division 25-Over League Tournament 2023, contested for the Fairfirst Insurance Trophy.
The tournament with the participation of 31 teams including 03 new-comers namely George Steuart Health (Pvt.) Ltd, Slim Pharmaceuticals (Pvt.) Ltd & Certis Lanka Group, got underway on 11th February 2023.
The Groupings: 31 teams pooled into 04 groups
Group “A” (08): Slim Pharmaceuticals (Pvt.) Ltd, Cargills Bank, MAS Silueta (Pvt.) Ltd, Nations Trust Bank (NTB), Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC (B), Certis Lanka Group, George Steuart Health (Pvt.) Ltd & Standard Chartered Bank.
Group “B” (07): Asiri Hospitals, MAS Linea Aqua (Pvt.) Ltd, Unilever Sri Lanka, Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC, South Asia Gateway Terminals (Pvt) Ltd, Softlogic Life & Ansell Textiles Lanka.
Group “C” (08): Technomedics International, 3DH International Group (B), MAS Active (B), Dialog Axiata, Astron Limited, Synergen Health, Union Bank of Colombo PLC

The Tournament Structure:
The tournament is conducted in 02 stages; the “league” stage, consisting 105 half day matches and the “Knock- Out” stage, consisting 15 matches, including the final. The league stage which commenced on 11th of February will conclude on 28th March: the “Knock-out” stage, the pre quarter finals on 01st & 02nd April; the Quarter finals on 05th April, the Semi Finals on 09th April and the final on 22nd April at MCA.
The selected venues are MCA, DS Senanayaka, NSCA Ratmalana, Dharmapala – Pannipitiya, De Mazoned – Kandana, St. Joseph’s – Darley Road, Army Grounds – Mattegoda, Wesley – Campbell Park, Thurstan & Bandaranayake Central – Veyangoda
The Player Control Team (PCT) : All matches are supervised by a MCA appointed Match Referee ; the on field Umpires are assigned by the Association of Professional Cricket Umpires, Sri Lanka (APCUSL); the score board and DLS Method Scorers are assigned by Sri Lanka Cricket Scorers.
The Tournament Ball: All matches up to the Final will be played with the HB The MCA will supply the tournament balls with the MCA Logo to the teams at cost.
The official sponsorship handing over ceremony together with the Media conference was held on Wednesday 22nd February, 6.30 pm at the MCA Fine Diner “The Pitch”.
The Chief Executive Officer, Fairfirst Insurance Limited Sandeep Gopal, handed over the sponsorship package to the President of MCA Nalin Wickramasinghe. National Head Affinity, Nelum Weragoda, & Chief Sales Officer, Sanjaya Siriwardena (both from Fairfirst Insurance Limited), General Secretary, Tarindra Kaluperuma, and Assistant Secretary cum Chairman Sponsorship Committee, Rohan Somawansa (both from MCA) were also present at the occasion.
