Crystal Palace snatch vital away victory over Java Lane
Crystal Palace FC started off the campaign of Dialog Champions League 2017 beating..
Police SC dominated possession and territory from the first whistle but lacked the killer instinct in the attacking third. Former Sri Lanka skipper Chathura Gunarathna controlled the game with ease for Police. However, Java Lane always looked threatening on the counter-attack with the likes of Naveen Jude and Rizkhan Faizer in their ranks.
The Slave Island lads went close before a howler from Mahendran Dinesh allowed the visitors their opening goal. The former Sri Lanka U19 and Saunders SC goalkeeper spilt a routine collection at the feet of Emmanuel Uchenna inside the six-yard box, who rounded off the goalkeeper to score.

Java Lane opened the 2nd half in fine fashion with skipper Rizkhan Faizer scoring in the 47th minute. Though Police, even with 10-men had possession, they struggled to make a telling impact on the opposition led by the unlikeliest center-back pairing of Farood Faiz and ‘Tboy’ Francis.

Java Lane scuffed a few chances with the best of them coming to Shafraz Kaiz, Janaka Chaminda and Naveen Jude. With minutes, remaining substitute Mohamed Abdullah put the game beyond doubt to slot home after getting on the end of a through ball.
Kaiz had the ball in the back of the net off a header but his celebration was short lived as the linesman at the far end had his flag up for off-side.
