The disorganized work structure of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka was once again highlighted when today’s (5th September) Dialog Champions League match between Up-Country Lions SC and Army SC had to be postponed due to ground maintenance, at the Jayathilake Stadium in Nawalapitiya.
Army SC and the referees had reported to the match only to be given the rude shock of the ground being not available. Both parties had made the long journey to Nawalapitiya from Colombo while the hosts Up-Country Lions were the only ones to have known about the unavailability of the ground and had not come for the match. Furthermore the media had also arrived at the ground and left frustrated.
The hosts Up-Country Lions and the Football Federation of Sri Lanka are to blame for this incident as neither party has had any communication and this too in Sri Lanka’s premier football tournament.
