Maliyadeva Girls School and CWW Kannangara won the Samaposha U15 Girls and Boys Championships respectively at the Vernon Fernando Stadium Kalutara.
It was an entertainment and competitive football played at Kalutara where 25 District Champions in Boys U15 category from all over the country for the final round of the Championship. The boys’ final was between CWW Kannangara Galle and Ginaraja Maha Vidyalaya.
The CWW Kannangara lads won the final 3-1 to clinch the championship. The 3rd Place went to Maris Stella College, Negombo who beat Al Humeishara Vidyalaya, Beruwela 4-1. Golden Boot for best player of the finals round was won by Udara Sankalpa and Best Goal Keeper was won by Vishan Udaya Kumara of CWW Kannangara MV, Galle.
The girls’ final was between Maliyadeva Girls School; Kurunegala and Welapura Girls. Maliyadeva girls’ won the match 6 goals to 1 and won the Samaposha U15 Girls All Island Football Championship. The 3rd Place was won by Jaffna-Thilippli Mahajana College who beat St Sebastian’s Bonus School, Madampe by 4-2. In the Girls segment the best Goalkeeper was K.K.Kavindaya Tharindu of Welapura Maha Vidyalaya and the Golden Boot for Best Player was won by Gayathri Mandahasini Nanayakkara.
There were over 400 teams participated in his year’s tournament which is sponsored by Samaposha for the 8th consecutive year. In the Girls’ U15 category there were over 100 teams played island-wide and 17 Regional Champions played in the final round at Kalutara.
