Malinda Pushpakumara produced a match-winning bowling display to seal a huge victory for Sri Lanka ‘A’ over Bangladesh ‘A’ in the 3rd and final Unofficial Test in Sylhet today (12th July). With this win Sri Lanka ‘A’ also won the 3-match series 1-0.
Resuming the day trailing by 88 runs the home team managed to score just 50 runs on day 3. Left-arm spinners, Malinda Pushpakumara and Prabath Jayasuriya along with right-arm off spinner Shehan Jayasuriya ran through the Bangladeshi batting order with complete authority to hand the visitors an innings and 38 run victory.

Pushpakumara took 5 more wickets to add to the wicket he took on day 2 (yesterday), making it 6 for the innings. Prabath Jayasuriya and Shehan Jayasuriya took 2 wickets each.
Soumya Sarkar’s 28 was the highest score for the hosts in the disastrous 2nd innings as they lost 9 wickets for just 50 runs.
Performances of Shehan Jayasuriya and Malinda Pushpakumara who were not named in the initial squad, stood out in this emphatic victory. They were added to the squad after Dimuth Karunaratne and Lakshan Sandakan left the squad for national duty.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ will now take on Bangladesh ‘A’ in 3 50-over matches which will start on 17th of this month. All 3 matches will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
