Sri Lanka suffered another humiliating loss, this time in the semi-final, against Malaysia 77-36 in the Asian Youth Netball Championship 2023 at the Jeonju Hwasan Gymnasium in South Korea.
Coming into the game, Sri Lanka knew it would be a tough outing and it showed from the 1st whistle as Malaysia completely dominated the court. Malaysia took a 10-point lead at the end of the 1st quarter (16-6). They added another 21-points in the 2nd quarter while Sri Lanka could only add 8. At half-time the score read 37-14.

Sri Lanka showed a slight improvement in the 3rd and 4th quarters but were no match to the Malaysians. Sri Lanka scored 11-points in both the 3rd & 4th quarters while Malaysia added 19 & 21 points.
For Sri Lanka Bhashi Udagedara scored 22-points from 25 attempts (88%), Dilmi Wijenayake added 11 from 12 (91% and captain Sajini Rathnayake scored 3/5 at 60%. Sri Lanka had an overall shooting percentage of 85.71% while Malaysia scored their 77-points from 88 shots at 87.5% shooting.
