Malaysia and Lebanon take honors on day 02 of Davis Cup

The second day of the Davis Cup concluded today at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association tennis courts. During the day Lebanon played against the United Arab Emirates whilst Malaysia played against Turkmenistan. The day ended in favour of Lebanon and Malaysia. Read on to find out how it happened.

Najib Fakih of Lebanon played against Abdulrahman Anjanhani from UAE in the first singles. The first set was an easy win for Lebanon winning 6 games to 1 but by the second set Abdulrahman had settled down winning the second set 6 games to 4. Fortunately for Lebanon, they won the final set although it was a tough game, winning 6 games to 4.

The second single was between Hady Habib of Lebanon and Omar Alawadhi of UAE. The first set went in favour of Hady without too much trouble, winning 6 games to 3, unlike the second set which was a very close call as both players won 5 games each but Hady came out on top winning the last 2 games and winning the set 7 games to 5.

The doubles was between Jahd Ballout and Hady Habib from Lebanon who played against Fahad Janahi and Hamad Abbas Nanhai from UAE. The doubles went in favour of UAE winning the first set 6 games to 3 and winning the second set 7 games to 5 in which Lebanon fought back and almost turned the tables on the UAE. Although since UAE only won the doubles it was Lebanon who was triumphant during the second day of the Davis Cup beating the United Arab Emirates 2-1.

During the second day, Malaysia also played against Turkmenistan. The first single was between Mohd Assri Merzuki from Malaysia and Yurly Rogusskiy from Turkmenistan. The match was won by Malaysia without too much trouble as Mohd Assri won both the first and second set 6 games to 3 and 6 games to 1 respectively.

However the same could not be said about the second singles between Ahmed Deedat Abdul Razak from Malaysia and Isa Mammetgulyyev of Turkmenistan. The first set went in favour of Malaysia 6 games to 4 although the second set was dominated by the Turkmenistanian player winning it 6 games to 3. During the crucial 3rd set the Malaysian player dominated the rallies and played well winning the set 6 games to 2.

The final match was the doubles between Christian Didler Chin and Mohd Assri Merzuki from Malaysia playing against Aleksandr Ernepesov and Yurly Rogusskiy from Turkmenistan. The first set was a swift win for Malaysia winning 6 games to 1 without facing much opposition. Although Turkmenistan fought back in the second set it wasn’t enough, as Malaysia won the second set as well 6 games to 4. Thus Malaysia won all the matches against Turkmenistan beating them 3-0 and took honours on the second day of the Davis Cup.
