Seven matches of SLC Major Club Limited Over Tournament were worked off today at several venues across the island.

The leading run-scorer of the tournament, 32-year-old right-hand batter Chanaka Ruwansiri continued his rich form with the bat, scoring another half-century for Galle CC, but ended up on the losing side as Shanuka Dulaj of Panadura SC matched him with 81-ball 70 to guide the lads from Panadura to victory.

Dilshan Munaweera, the Skipper of Negombo CC, played a match winning knock of 59 runs off 65 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes for his side. Munaweera, along with the left-arm spinner Upul Indrasiri, who picked up 3 for 16, were the cornerstones of Negombo CC’s victory.

Left-hander Sangeeth Cooray, who made 69 runs off 120 balls with 5 fours and a six, propelled Colts CC to a comprehensive win over Sebastianites C & AC. Mohammed Shiraz (3/18) and Muditha Lakshan (2/43) also gave good accounts for themselves in the victory.

Leg spinner Jeffrey Vandersay of Tamil Union C & AC picked up his second 5-wicket haul in a row as he snared 5 for 44 against Police SC. Along with Vandersay, left-arm spinner Dilum Sudeera (4/56) bowled exceptionally well but ended on the losing side in a thrilling encounter.
