The premier U23 inter-club competition conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket will be played from the 18th of February with the participation of 26 clubs.

The Major Club Emerging Tournament 2022 is being played in a 3-day format for the first time since 2016 as it was held as a 50-over affair during the past few years.

The teams are segregated into 4 groups with 7 teams each in groups A and D while groups B and C consist of 6 teams each.

Each team in groups A and D will play 6 games – a game against each team in the group – while B and C will get 5 games per team. The group toppers will advance to the semi-finals.

The group-topper from group B will take on their counterpart from group C in the first semi-final while the top teams from groups A and D will clash in the second semi-final of the tournament. The semis will be played from the 1st to 3rd of April and 8th to 10th of April respectively.

The final is scheduled to be played from the 22nd to the 24th of April but the venues for the tournament are yet to be disclosed
