Michael Main, Head of Strength and Conditioning at Hampshire county cricket team under ECB, will join Sri Lanka Cricket in the same position Ceylon Today reliably learns.
This will be following the end of contract of the current Strength and Conditioning coach Darshan Weerasinghe which is to end on the 30th of this month. According to a source close to SLC, Main will be paid around USD 8,500 monthly. Main had been recommended by current national coach Marvan Atapattu.
Main had been working with Hampshire from 2011. He had also worked with ECB in their young fast bowlers training programme. Apart from cricket, Main is also serving as Strength and Conditioning coach for England’s junior basketball players.
Main holds a masters degree in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Teeside, England, while completing his bachelor’s degree from University of Worcester in Sports Studies and Physical Education.
Meanwhile, the team’s physiotherapist Steve Mount’s contract too will end soon. Mount is said to have been receiving around AUD 8,000 per month, and according to the source, a salary increment could keep Mount for another term.
