Mahinda takes 1st innings honours

Mahinda College took on Dharmapala College today in an interschool cricket match at Surrey Village Maggona.

All the batsmen were put to the test by the aggressive Mahinda bowlers and, Dharmapala College managed only to score 100 runs in 38.3 overs in their first innings.

Prashan Rathnayake scored 20 runs while Captain Sahan Perera was sent away for just 18 runs. Thamith Kalhara scalped 3 wickets while Chalana De Silva and Indeera Gallage chipped in with 2 wickets apiece.

Mahinda College in their first innings managed to score 115 runs for a loss of 6 wickets in 49 overs. Dulash Udayanga batted with care for 26 runs while Nirwantha Theekshala and Chalan De Silva scored 23 and 21 runs respectively. The savior for Dharmapala College, Ushan Jayalath removed 3 wickets for 44 runs.  

The first day was ended with Mahinda College bagging  1st innings honours.
