Thomian Tharindu Ratnayake took a match bag of 12 for 87 in their drawn inter-school cricket match against Mahinda College at Mt. Lavinia yesterday.
The right arm off-spinner produced a stunning bowling performance claiming seven for 38 runs in the first innings as Mahinda batting first were reduced to just 175 runs. It was a brilliant effort by the off-spinner who turned the ball viciously offering no chance for the batsmen to free their arms. He continued his awesome performance in the second innings where he returned figures of five for 49 as Mahinda collapsed to 127 in the second innings. Ravindu Thilakaratne claimed three for 24 while Thilaksha Sumanasiri took two for 27.
However a poor batting effort from the home side conceded first innings win for Mahinda as S. Thomas’ were bowled out for 151 in the first innings and were reeling at 89 for the loss of eight wickets chasing 152 runs to win the match.
Pasindu Dilshan who claimed two for 23 in the first innings was the star in the second innings claiming four for 24.
