Mahinda conquer Nalanda as Nittabuwa Ladies win

Mahinda College effortlessly overcame Nalanda College by 8 wickets while Nittabuwa Ladies got the better out of Matale Ladies, winning by 6 wickets to draw the curtain down on the 5th Murali Harmony Cup 2016.

Winning the toss and batting, Nalanda College managed just 117 as Mahinda College bowlers faired phenomenally to restrict the Nalanda batting. Opening bowler Reshan Kavinda was the pick of the bowlers for Mahinda with figures of 3 for 17.

Kasun Sandaruwan was the only batsman for Nalanda to reach a 30+ score as he managed 33 valuable runs and Dasun Senevirathna made a 28 runs.

Mahinda College never looked troubled by the Nalanda bowling as Ravindu Welihinda’s unbeaten 49 lead Mahinda to a straightforward win. Nipun Malinga provided unparalleled support with an unbeaten 30 to take Mahinda over the finish line.

Matale Ladies v Nittabuwa Ladies

In the women’s final, Matale Ladies won the toss and elected to bat. Exquisite bowling from Nittabuwa meant the ladies from Matale were restricted to a mere 84 runs in 17 overs. Shanika Tharushi (2/13) and Gayani Kanchana (2/29) managed four wickets between them.

Opening batsman Pabasara Ranabahu was the lynch pin in the Nittabuwa batting as she managed 26 runs to steady the ship and guide Nittabuwa to an effortless 6 wicket win.
