Former Sri Lanka cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan suggests that former Sri Lankan cricketer Roshan Mahanama is the ideal person to take over the position of head coach of Sri Lanka men’s cricket team.

Muralitharan appearing on Salakuna program on Hiru TV, mentioned that discipline is the biggest issue the current team faces so someone who can build good discipline in the team should be named as head coach of the team.

“Discipline is the biggest problem with current crop of players. Mahanama is the only man I can think of who can make a disciplined team. This is my personal opinion. I have suggested this to sports minister as well. I spoke to Mahanama regarding this and he said he needs time to think about it,” Muralitharan said.

“Mahanama was a disciplined cricketer in his time. Even I learnt a lot from him and followed him as a role model. If we can make discipline in the team, everything will come into place afterwards,” he added.

Former Sri Lankan cricketer and world cup winner Mahanama is a member of the Sri Lanka Cricket advisory committee.
