Both Mahanama College and Lumbini College ended day 1 with equal satisfaction even though Lumbini College were restricted to a modest total as Niduka Welikala and Hashan Sandeepa shone with the ball.
Captain Malindu Maduranga of Mahinda College, won the toss and elected to field, on a bowler friendly track at the Colts grounds. The decision paid off duly as Mahanama College dismissed Lumbini for just 216 in 70.5 overs.
Captain Thanuka Dabare stood out with a solid half century while left handed batsman Charith Mihiranga managed 36 and Ravindu Sanjeewa contributed with 34 for Lumbini
