Mahanama beat St. Anne's

The last of the quarter-final games in the Singer ‘U15 Division One’ schools cricket tournament was played today (12th September), when Mahanama College, Colombo and St. Anne’s College, Kurunegala locked horns to fight it out for a spot in the semi-finals.

Winning the toss, the Mahanama skipper stuck to his team’s plans and opted to put runs on the board first. Mahanama reputed for big totals this year, were in trouble at the start of the innings losing 3 wickets with the score below 50. But decent batting performances in the middle steadied the ship for Mahanama. Banula Agalawatthe brought some control to the innings with a fighting 33, and Devindu Kakirideniya scored an unbeaten 28 before Mahanama rather surprisingly decided to declare at a 120 for the loss of 6 wickets. Kalindu Wijesinghe and Pasindu Thenakoon picked up 2 wickets each.
