Kathaluwa Central athlete Nirmali Madushika produced her personal best to win a bronze medal in the girls’ 400 metres final at the Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China yesterday.
She clocked 55.96 seconds to be placed third behind China’s Huang Guifen (gold – 53.65 sec) and Taipei’s Lin Yu-Chieh (silver – 55.78 sec).
The athlete, coached by Prasanna Perera, was taking part in her second international competition following her participation at the recently held IAAF World Youth Championships.
