Sri Lanka ‘A’ beat Australia ‘A’ by 4 wickets in the 2nd Unofficial ODI to draw the 2-match series 1-1.

Australian skipper Henry Hunt won the toss and opted to bat first for the 2nd consecutive time at SSC Grounds in Colombo.

Wicket-keeper batter Josh Philippe and Travis Head opened the batting for Australia and provided a quick start putting on 83 runs in 9.1 overs. The opener Head built another half-century stand with number 4 batter Marcus Harris for the 3rd wicket as the visitors set the perfect platform for a big score on the board.

Head continued to put pressure on Sri Lankan bowlers with a wonderful batting display as he notched up his 11th List-A century to propel Australia to 312 runs in the allotted 50 overs.

For Sri Lanka, it was the speedster Pramod Madushan who impressed with the ball picking up 4 wickets for 50 runs while the speedster Nisala Tharaka and off-spinner Sahan Arachchige bagged 2 wickets each.

In reply, Niroshan Dickwella and Oshada Fernando opened the innings for Sri Lanka and provided a solid start adding 43 runs for the first wicket. Dickwella then joined by number three batter Kamindu Mendis and built a match-winning 116-run partnership for the 2nd wicket putting the hosts in driving seat at the halfway stage of the innings.

After the Dickwella-Mendis partnership, Sri Lanka witnessed a chaotic period in the middle losing 3 quick wickets for 46 runs giving some edge to the visitors at 205/5. However, Sri Lanka capped middle-order batter Ashen Bandara coming to bat at 6, held his nerves to guide Sri Lanka home scoring a match-winning 73 runs off 65 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 112.30
