Lumiere Textiles Limited stepped forward as sponsors of the 2013 Isipathana Rugby team in their novel ‘going green’ concept.
This was revealed at the media briefing last evening at the Gymkhana Club Colombo 7. Isipathana that is out to break barrier’s in the rugby this year has also embraced the green concept and will project Green Rugby. The long time Rugby giants made a niche for themselves in Rugby emerging the league champions many years running and producing some of the best rugby players in the country. In 2012 ‘Pathana’ as they are referred to in rugby circles went on to win the golden double of becoming both Knockout and League champs
Along with the government’s dream to make the Colombo city greener, Isipathana College has taken up the Green concept in their surroundings and has extended it with their rugby and together with the resounding backing of Lumiere Textiles Limited they will scrum down to convey a strapping message to the rugby fraternity in keeping the environment clean.
Speaking at the media briefing which was worked off at Gymkhana Club yesterday, Mr. A.C.Perera, Principal of Isipathana College stated, “We will make our city clean and show our talents to the society. Though we feel a great miss of a play ground, we will give advice for the others. Through our courage and dedication we will reach our aim. And we will make Colombo a greener city.”
This year the Isipathana 1st XV rugger team will be led by Uditha Premathilake who is a 4th year coloursman while Hirantha Perera a 3rd year coloursman will work as his deputy.
