Three matches in the Singer Schools U-19 Division 1 two-day cricket tournament 2017/18 were conducted today around the island.
St. Joseph’s College vs Lumbini College
The hosts were bowled out for a formidable 292 in the morning session of the second day, in the group ‘D’ encounter which ended at Darley Road. The visitors got knocked out for 78 in the first innings but came out with a better performance as they posted 316 with the help of Sadunil Sankalpa (81), Vinu Hemal (51*) and Kaveen Peiris (50).
The Josephians needed 103 off 12 overs to notch up their 5th outright win in the season, but their hopes were destroyed as the game ended in a thrilling finish in the last over.

Ananda College vs Mahinda College
The Anandians resumed the second day on 22/1 in hope of recording a first innings win in the group ‘D’ encounter which ended at the Galle International Stadium. Mahinda bowlers were excellent with their targets as the visitors got restricted to a modest 189 in 70.4 overs.
Navod Paranavithana and Kavindu Ediriweera grabbed 3 wickets apiece to ensure a 1st innings win for the lads from Galle.
