After a 4 month pause both teams returned to the Dialog Champions League with a 0 – 0 draw for defending champions Colombo FC against New Youngs SC and a 5 – 0 win for Solid SC against Navy SC in the bag.
Although an evenly paced match was expected with both Solid SC and Colombo FC being the champions of 2014 and 2015 respectively, the Colombo lads started taking control of the game after few minutes from kick off.

ThePapare.com Player of the Match – Ahamed Shazny
A jubilant coach of Colombo FC, Mr. Mohamed Roomy gave his thoughts to ThePapare.com;
‘We played out the match just as we planned. I am missing a defender but tried to compensate for it by moving captain Raumy to the defence and it worked well. We studied our opponents as well as previous other matches so we tried to play a wide spread game without being compact. We hope to plan the rest of the matches game by game and also we will be experimenting some things we hope to try out in the AFC Cup during the Air Force match.’
A somewhat disappointed coach of Solid SC, Mr. Mohamed Jasmin said;
‘We are missing 5 players from our first XI due to injuries and various other reasons. And also the fact that we couldn’t continue our practices from December as I was also on National Team duty are the reasons for our loss today. But comparatively I think our boys put a pretty effort today.’
