Over the past seven years Touch Rugby has gained popularity among the rugby lovers in Qatar functioning as a event that fosters fellowship in the Sri Lankan community in Qatar. According to Lions RFC “this event is anticipated to pave the opportunity to many past rugby players to team up and battle for the title, just like in the good old school days and this initiative is not only to bring a touch rugby fiesta, but also to emanate the flamboyant display of sportsmanship, culture, peace, fun and unity of the Sri Lankan community in Doha”. All previous editions attracted many enthusiastic OBA teams in Qatar and organizers are expecting an exciting tournament this year.
Lions RFC was formed by a group of Sri Lankan touch rugby players who successively turned it into a full contact rugby club in 2010. Presently Lions RFC is one of the leading rugby clubs in Doha.
