The tournament’s official draw and press briefing was held on the 16th November 2017 at City Centre Rotana Hotel, Doha with the presence of participating team captains and organizing committee members. A total of twelve (12) Sri Lankan schools OBA teams have been grouped into four groups through an open draw. In contrast to the previous editions, for this year’s event organizers have decided to include four (04) invitational clubs with a motive to develop and promote touch rugby game in Qatar. These four (04) invitational clubs have been ceded into the four groups along with Sri Lankan school teams. According to Samuel Rico of “Qatar Touch” one of the event sponsors “We decided to conduct the draw in a manner that shows partially and fairness to all participating teams. The last band in each group has been kept for the invitational clubs. This format allows for better knock out stages and strong preliminary competition”

The event is organized by Lions RFC Doha in collaboration with Qatar Touch and organizers expect this year’s event to be much superior to the previous editions. According to Nimo Amit – Lionc RFC Doha President “It is with great delight the lions will hold the seventh edition of the Lions Touch Sevens in collaboration with Qatar Touch. We are proud of our existence that started so humbly and continues to thrive and develop year after year”. It is not only to bring a touch rugby fiesta, but also a fun filled family day out for the entire family which will include kids play area, games, bouncing castles, slides, Sri Lankan products stall and many more.
