Leo District 306 C1 in collaboration with Leo club of University of Colombo has planned to organize Leo Super 7s 2017, first ever Rugby 7s tournament by a Leo District. Leo Super 7s 2017, the premier experience of extortionate rugby tournament will create a platform for both state and private sportive scholars and assist in promoting rugby among youth.
Leo District 306 C1 is one of the largest and most active Leo Districts in the Leo Multiple 306, Sri Lanka affiliated to Lions Clubs International, World’s Largest Service Organization. Since the inception in the 2005, it has engaged dedicated themselves towards many community service projects around the island benefiting many social groups.
Leo club of University of Colombo is a high profile Leo club in Leo District 306 C1 which has richly progressed in a very short span of time with their CSR activities and innovative projects outclassing many of its kind.
This signature sports event will be held on Sunday, 22nd of October 2017 from 08.00 am onwards at University of Colombo Grounds.
High profile rugby teams such as University of Moratuwa, University of Peradeniya and University of Kelaniya representing state universities along with challenging outfits like CINEC Campus, SLIIT from private universities will battle for the triumph on the day.
In addition to that Wayamba University, University of Jaffna along with few other state and private universities will participate for the ultimate extravaganza.
Parallel to the event, an online voting has been opened to crown the “Most Popular University Rugby Player”. The number votes has exceeded 25,000 as at today while the casting of votes are allowed till 12.00 noon of the day of the event.
This tournament will be a permanent fixture in university rugby calendar from this year onwards.
