Head coach Gareth Baber says, players kept their focus right to the final pool game against Australia.

Last night Fiji Airways Fijian 7s head coach Gareth Baber said he’s satisfied with what they’ve achieved during the first day of the New Zealand 7s.

“We had a good day at the office,” he told SUNsports.

The Fijians had a grand start with a 54-7 win over Wales before they struggled to beat Argentina 33-24 and them had to rely on a Mesulame Kunavula try after being set-up by Kalione Nasoko to edge out Australia 26-19.

“Not everything went our way but we learnt a lot as the day progressed.”

The Welshman said he was pleased that the players kept their focus right to the final tough pool game against Australia.

The side were injury-free and had a meeting at the hotel to discuss about their game and what they need to work on in today’s Cup quarter final clash against Canada.

The areas they need to work on was on their defence and restarts as they were denied possessions.

Barring any upset the Kalione Nasoko-captained side are expected to play series leaders South Africa in the semi-final.
