The Ananda 1st XI Cricket Team for the season 2015/2016 will be sponsored and supported by LAUGFS Holdings PLC. It was announced today at the Press Conference held at the Ananda College hall.
Present among the distinguished gathering were, Mr. Thilak De Silva – Managing Director – LAUGFS Holdings Limited, Mr. Kithsiri Liyanagamage – The Principal, Ananda College, Mr. Wedage – Deputy Principal, Ananda College, Mr. Gihan Karunaratne – Country Manager, Sri Lanka & Maldives, Oman Air and President, Ananda College Cricket Wing and Mr. Adel Hashim – General Manager – Sales & Marketing, Amana Takaful PLC
Mr. Gihan Karunaratne – President Ananda College Cricket Wing thanked the sponsor who is empowering the Ananda Cricket team for the 3rd consecutive year and said “this will help the Ananda Cricket team to continue with its outstanding contribution towards Sri Lanka Cricket and contributions of this nature to sustain and improve Cricket at School levels”.
The Principal of Ananda College Mr. Kithsiri Liyanagamage thanked Mr. Thilak De Silva, Group Managing Director of LAUGFS Holdings PLC for his contribution as an Old Boy towards Ananda & Ananda Cricket while, Thilak De Silva said he is “delighted to contribute and to be associated once again with Ananda College” and urged all Old Boys to partner with their Alma Mater in their endeavoLAUGFS Holdingsrs to improve and develop Cricket from grass root level at Ananda College.
2014/2015 season showed Ananda College making significant strides towards the past glories that is associated with the school which has produced many Top Teams and outstanding Cricketers.
• 1st XI Team finished 3rd in the League Table and was the TOP Team from the Western Province
• Champions in the Murali Harmony Cup 2015 for the second consecutive year
• Under 19 All – Island Runners-up in the limited over competition
• All-Island Best Bowler produced by Ananda College in 2015, Mast. Dilanka Sandekan
• Under 17 Division 1 All-Island Champions
• 3 Players were selected from the Ananda College Under 19 Team for the National Pool, Mast. Shammu Ashan, Mast. Nisal Fransisco & Mast. Kavishka Anjula
• Shammu Shan was appointed Sri Lanka Schools Under 19 Vice-Captain for the season 2015/2016
