Sri Lankan superstar and T20 specialist Lasith Malinga has reportedly confirmed his participation in the new city based franchised tournament; ‘The Hundred’.
The 8-team tournament, which is set to commence in July 2020, is organized by the England Cricket Board and is intended to run alongside the county based Natwest T20 Blast.

Alongside Lasith Malinga, some of the world’s best cricketers like Eoin Morgan, Kane Williamson, Shakib al Hasan, Chris Gayle and Steve Smith are also confirmed to be in the draft of The Hundred.
Malinga who recently retired from ODI cricket, became the first and only cricketer to achieve the 100-wicket milestone in T20I cricket with a rare 4-in-4 in a match against New Zealand in September. Currently he is the captain of the Sri Lanka T20 team and is a part of numerous T20 leagues around the world, including the lucrative Indian Premier League.

Malinga famously guided Mumbai Indians to a thrilling last ball victory in the IPL final in 2019 too. The coach of Mumbai Indians; former Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene is also set to be part of this new league, “The Hundred” as a coach for Southern Brave; a team based at Ageas Bowl, Southampton.

The squads for each team of The Hundred will be confirmed in the draft which will be confirmed on 20th October.
