Lakshitha Madushan and Sansala Sandeepani were crowned National Men’s and Women’s Surfing Champion respectively at the National Surf Championship 2023 held recently at Main Surf point, Hikkaduwa.
This is the first competition in a series of three national surfing tournaments that will bring together the top Sri Lankan surfers to qualify and to be ranked to join the Sri Lankan National Surf Squad.
Both Men and Women competed in the open category, whilst there were two more categories – Junior Under 18 and Junior Under 15.
- National Men’s Winner – Lakshihta Madushan from Weligama
- National Women’s Winner – Sansala Sandeepani from Madiha
- National Junior Under 18 Winner – Sandalu Mihiran from Hikkaduwa
- National Junior Under 15 Winner- Channa Prasath from Weligama
The next two competitions will be in Arugambay in September and Madiha in December.
