The Novices Water Polo Championships 2022, organized by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union, was held today, the 27th of August at Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex.
After a knockout tournament among 14 teams participating in different age groups, the Under 16 age category Girls’ and Boys’ overall championships were won by Ladies’ College, Colombo, and Royal College, Colombo respectively. T. Kalansooriya from Ladies’ College and Lithum Karunasena from Royal College emerged as the Best Scorers in the age group.
Ladies’ College also won the Under 20 Girls’ overall championship, showing their team spirit, and A. Sumanathilake scored the highest scores for Ladies’ and became the top scorer in the Under 20 age group. The Under 20 Boys’ overall championship was won by S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, and Santhush Kalansooriya took the team to victory by scoring the highest goals and becoming the best scorer in the age group.
Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy fought for the Men’s open category championship, and Sri Lanka Army succeeded in their mission by winning the trophy. R.W.I.S. Vimalasiri of the Sri Lanka Army turned out to be the Best Scorer in the open age category.
