Ladies College, Colombo and Royal College, Colombo took major honours in the 33rd Ranfer Sprints Regatta, organized by Colombo Rowing Club, which took place on the 10th of June in Colombo.

The Ranfer Sprints is not won by the best oarsmen or oarswomen, but by the best team. Each team has a sculler, a pair, and a four. Each boat has two races – one up from the pier to the 300 meter mark and the other down to the pier. The Regatta works on a point system and the team with the highest cumulative points at the end wins the Regatta.
Bimaya Raddalgoda of Ladies College won the Women’s Open Single sprint, whilst Sarith Abeysirigunawardana of Royal College became the Men’s Open Single sprint winner.

Ladies College duo of Acacia Nanayakkara and Mitali Wickramage won the Women’s Open Pair sprint. Also, the Four Sprint championship in the Women’s Open category was won by Turanya Basnayake, Tihana De Saram, Kehansa Madugalle, Sanindi De Silva and Ananya Kirtisinghe (Cox) from Ladies College.

In the Men’s Open Pair sprint, Royal College duo Sanuth Wickramratne and Sasiru Panditha emerged winners. In the Men’s Open Four sprint, Royal College won and was represented by Newan Perera, Aneesh Polonovita, Jayden Jayasekara, Jayaru Seemanage, Hisnath Hazeer (Cox).
