An unbeaten 86 by Kusal Lakthilina and a crafty 71 by Sachitha Fonseka helped St. Sebastian’s College gain first innings win over Wesley in their U-19 inter-school cricket fixture concluded at Moratuwa today.
St. Sebastian’s scored 241 all out in response to Wesley’s first innings score of 180 thanks to the two solid half centuries from Lakthilina and Fonseka. The pair added 114 runs for the seventh wicket. Lakthilaka showed little aggression in his 214 ball innings where he had 11 boundaries while his partner Fonseka showed lots of aggression and intent as he spared 115 balls for his 71 runs. He also had 12 boundaries in his innings.
Andrew Parais was the pick of the bowlers for Wesley with five for 43 runs.
Wesley in their second innings were 61 for the loss of six wickets with Umesh Morais running through the innings with a magnificent bowling effort. He picked up five of the six wickets that fell in the second innings giving just 20 runs away.
