Batting in the middle order left-handed Perera scored 44* and 47* against South Africa and India respectively at The Oval before being ruled out of the game against Pakistan after sustaining an injury during the game against India. He was later replaced by Dhananjaya De Silva.
Perera was not named in the squad for the first two ODIs against Zimbabwe and skipper Angelo Mathews said he is ‘touch & go’ for the upcoming India series as well, “Kusal Perera is out for the whole series.
