Perera, who is part of Team Dambulla in the ongoing SLC Super Fours Provincial Tournament, opted out of the first game due to injury concerns. He was in terrific form during recent Nidahas Trophy where he accumulated 204 runs in 4 innings with 3 half centuries.
“He was very excited by the offer but he wants to win back his place in the national side. So, he is keen to play in the Super Fours Provincial Tournament and prove himself. He will play at least one match in the tournament. He is very keen to represent Sri Lanka in all three formats.” De Silva said to Sunday Times.

Soon after the conclusion of the Provincial tournament, the Sri Lanka Test team is set to undergo a training camp under the watchful eyes of coach Chandika Hathurusingha in order to prepare for the upcoming three-match Test series in West Indies in May-June.
Perera has played 10 Test matches but last represented Sri Lanka in red-ball cricket back in December 2016 against South Africa.
