Maris Stella College kept their unbeaten streak alive with a 3-0 win against Kingswood College while Royal College came from a goal back to draw 1-1 against Holy Cross in the U19 Division I Championship group stage encounters.

Kingswood v Maris Stella

After a lackluster first half Maris Stella needed three 2nd half goals to down a determined Kingswood line-up that were playing at home.

The first half belonged to the hosts who had the better of the travelling Maris Stella lads but were unable to create any chances as it ended goalless at half time.

The 2nd half was a complete turnaround as Maris Stella bossed the game and soon took the lead when Thathsara Fernando headed home the opener from an Anjana Gunawardena corner.

They could have doubled the lead a few minutes later but Nisal Tharinda’s penalty was well saved by Bandara Wijerathna. However Nisal made amends for his miss as he struck the 2nd from a Laren Peter cross.

Nisal would bag his brace and sent the game beyond doubt, scoring the 3rd goal for Maris Stella to keep the unbeaten streak intact.

Royal v Holy Cross

In their first outing after the shock Big Match loss to S.Thomas’ College, Royal looked a bit hazy in the first half and went into half time 1-0 down.

However a slightly better 2nd half performance saw them earn a penalty which was easily dispatched by Naveen Jude to give the Reid Avenue boys their 2nd draw in as many matches.
