Isipathana came into this contest with two big wins already under their belt while their opponents for the day were on the receiving end in their opening two games.
The home team went in for the kill right from the first whistle running at them head on. Kingswood conceded an early penalty but Isipathana’s Gayan Wickramarathne was off target with his kick. However, it took only a few minutes more as Skipper Kushan Indunil opened the scoring with a nice try just beside the posts. Scrum half Dileeka Hettiarachchi added the easy extras (07-00).
Isipathana were forced to make an early substitution in as early as the 10th minute with Sasmitha Fernando replacing Lahiru Wishwajith due to injury. Replacement Sasmitha only took a few minutes to grab the spotlight as he dummied his way through the defense to score mid right. Malintha Ruberu and Adeesha Eshan followed soon and by the 20th minute Isipathana were already in a commanding position (24-00). Next to score was Winger Ranidu Padmasanka who added the finishing touches to a fine move initiated by his fellow winger Chamodh Fernando who made a scintillating break before off-loading to Padmasanka to do the honors. Padmasanka went on to score another brilliant try using his speed and neat footwork which was converted by Gayan Wickramarathne. The try virtually wrapped up the game even before the half time whistle.

Kingswood scored their first and only try of the game five minutes into the 2nd half when Thaindu Weligampola barged his way through from close quarters. Full back Buddika Nishantha missed the conversion (36-05).
Isipathana however went on to score their 7th try for the evening when their forwards powered their way over the line through a rolling maul. Padmasanka who took over the kicking duties saw his kick brush off the post (41-05).
Isipathana Coach Nilfer Ibrahim decided to give his entire bench valuable game time. Replacement Sharukh Manabarana was once such substitute and just a few minutes after coming on, he made his presence felt with a powerful drive to score a brilliant try just besides the posts. Ranidu’s conversion attempt only managed to hit the uprights again and Pathana led 46-05. With a lot of substitutes on the field the last few minutes turned out to be a rather scrappy affair with both sides making mistakes aplenty.
During the dying stages of the game Devin Gunaraththe added the final nail in the Kingswoodian coffin as he managed to score off a forwards rush. Dileeka Hettiarachchi made a fantastic conversion to bring a rather one sided game to a close.
Man of the Match: Dileeka Hettiarachchi.
