Kickerz Football Carnival ends with Gateway taking Major honours

Gateway College ended the day (8th of June) with the majority of the Silverware, taking home the Under 16 and Under 14 Championships. The Overseas School of Colombo won the Under 12 segment, as hosts Colombo Kickerz won the Under 10 age group. 

The Colombo Kickerz Football Carnival 2024, a yearly Football extravaganza, ended on the 8th of June, marking the culmination of a thrilling tournament that highlighted the passion and prowess of young footballers. Building on the success of previous years, the 3rd edition of the carnival once again provided a platform for budding athletes to shine on the field.

Highlighting the amazing talent of young footballers across various age groups, Kickerz L emerged victorious in the Under 10 category, led by Jaivyn Amath, who was awarded Best Player, and Arayan Fernando, named Best Goalkeeper.

The Overseas School of Colombo clinched the Under 12 title, with Benjamin Van Wel as Best Player and Koroush Schadlou as Best Goalkeeper. 

Gateway College dominated the older age groups, winning both the Under 14 and Under 16 titles, taking home major honours of the Kickerz Football Carnival 2024.  

Nishanthan Naveen from Blue Jay Academy was awarded Best Player in Under 14, with Mahir Imran of Gateway College securing Best Goalkeeper in the same age group. 

Hunan Haleem shone as Best Player for Gateway College in Under 16, while Nadal Senapala earned Best Goalkeeper. 

The event not only celebrated champions but also fostered sportsmanship and camaraderie among participants. Iodex, Prima Kottu Mee, Acorn, The Physio, Ninewells Hospitals, DigiMe Ads, Sun FM and Gold FM were the proud sponsors of the Carnival. This event continues to serve as a vital platform for nurturing young Football talent in the region, promising a bright future for the sport.
