Kavindu Madarasinghe scored a magnificent century as Royal College dominated the opening day of the Singer-Cup group B encounter against St. Benedict’s College which began at Royal grounds.
Skipper Helitha Vithanage won the toss and decided to bat on their home soil as they put up a fighting 290 on the board for 8 wickets in 84 overs. Kavindu Madarasinghe guided the Royalists with a superb century and he was ably supported by Thevindu Senaratne with a half-ton. Imesh Fernando picked up 2 scalps for the visitors.
