Kavin Peiris slammed a sparkling century as Lumbini College registered a first innings win over President’s College, Rajagiriya in the traditional encounter concluded today at Colt’s Ground.

Lumbini College invited the opposition to bat first after winning the toss. President’ College went onto post a respectable total of 265 in 78.2 overs with Dilshan Sigera and Malaka De Silva stroking half centuries. Sachitha Liyanage fell two short of a fifty. Kanishka Maduwantha starred with the ball bagging 3 wickets for 64 runs.

Lumbini College started strongly with the bat in pursuit of 266 to get the first innings lead. Kavin Peiris top scored with a scintillating century but was dismissed for 101 when the target was well in sight. Kanishka Maduwantha and Vinu Hemal chipped in with 46 and 42 respectively as Lumbini College comfortably went past the required 266 before getting dismissed for 320 in 91.1 overs. D.C. Wickramasuriya (5 for 61) and Pramuka Gayeshan (4 for 56) were the pick of the bowlers sharing nine wickets among themselves.

President’s College came to bat for the second time with only a handful of overs remaining in the match. They finished at 50 for the loss 3 wickets as Dilshan Sigera remained unbeaten at 31. Thanuka Dabare picked 2 wickets for 20 runs.
