Lankan CC skipper Rajeewa Weerasinghe opted to bat first on a dry surface in Panagoda. Right-hander Chanaka Ruwansiri continued his form with the bat as he scored a brilliant 103 ball 81 to guide the lads from Lankan CC to a decent 248 all out. In reply Kurunagala boys held their nerve to survive the day as umpires called it stumps.

Being asked to bat first Panadura showed a classic batting display on their home conditions, scoring 375 in just 92 overs in the game started in Panadura. Kashif Naveed is the Panadura hero this year as he hammered an outstanding 192 to give the Panadura boys honours on the opening day.

In reply, the lads from Police Park lost four wickets as Air Force edged over Police SC on the opening day.
